The Pelicans announced today that rookie star Zion Williamson has left the NBA Bubble to tend to an urgent family matter:

Obviously, we all hope Zion and his family are all okay, and he can return to the bubble as soon as possible. The thing that makes this tricky for Zion and the Pelicans is that they are scheduled to play the Utah Jazz in two weeks and Zion will have to quarantine himself when he returns. If Zion is out of the bubble for seven days or less and has a negative test each of those days, his quarantine will be four days upon return to the bubble. If he is out of the bubble for more than a week, he will quarantine for four days if he has a negative test for the final seven days he is gone. For some reason, if Zion can’t get the required testing, he will have to quarantine ten days when he returns.

Due to a knee Injury, Zion missed the first half of the season but made his debut in early January and was dominating until the NBA had to postpone the season in early March. Zion played 19 games and averaged just under 24 points per game on 56% shooting to go along with six rebounds per game. The Pelicans are currently 3.5 games back from the Grizzlies for that final playoff spot.
