WWE Super Showdown Preview

Written by Colby Faria

WWE’s next Saudi Arabia based-PPV is tomorrow night & is titled “Super Showdown”. The event is headlined by The Fiend, Bray Wyatt defending the Universal Championship against former WCW & Universal Champion, Goldberg as well as WWE Champion, Brock Lesnar defending his title against Ricochet. It’s a very interesting card & should be a decent afternoon of action.

Let’s get into it…

  • Universal Championship – The Fiend (C) vs Goldberg

Preview – 3 weeks ago on SmackDown, WWE Hall of Famer, Goldberg returned to the company as he was interviewed & called out the Universal Champion, Bray Wyatt…Wyatt responded with another great iteration of the Firefly Funhouse & accepted the challenge. Last week on SmackDown, while Goldberg was in the ring to hype up their match, The Fiend showed up & got met with a vicious spear from the Hall of Famer. Will Goldberg be able to keep that momentum & be the first man to slay The Fiend or will The Fiend continue his reign in terrorizing the entire WWE roster?

  • WWE Championship – Brock Lesnar (C) vs Ricochet

Preview – With a match with 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble winner, Drew McIntyre on the horizon at WrestleMania 36, in April, WWE Champion, Brock Lesnar will have one more hurdle to overcome before that match becomes official when he defends his title against Ricochet. 3 weeks ago on Monday Night RAW, Ricochet defeated Seth Rollins & Bobby Lashley in a triple threat match to gain the opportunity to face “The Beast” at Super Showdown. Will “The Beast” conquer yet another challenger or will Ricochet pull off the upset of the century?

  • Steel Cage Match – Roman Reigns vs King Corbin

Preview – Reigns & Corbin have had dog food matches, TLC matches & then a Falls Count Anywhere match…now their rivalry will FINALLY end inside of a Steel Cage. I can’t explain enough how happy I am that this rivalry is finally over. I’m not going to go into a preview with this one…instead I decided to take this time to express how much I hate this rivalry.

  • SmackDown Tag-Team Championship Match – New Day (C) vs The Miz & John Morrison

Preview – The Miz & John Morrison have had Big E & Kofi Kingston’s number ever since reuniting as a team when Morrison returned to the company, last month. Can they turn that momentum into tag-team Gold?

  • 6-man Tuwaiq Trophy Gauntlet Match – Andrade vs AJ Styles vs Bobby Lashley vs Rey Mysterio vs Erick Rowan vs R-Truth

Preview – This match will clearly be match of the night & features 6 superstars that can absolutely GO in the ring. Should be a fun one.

  • RAW Tag-Team Championship Match – Seth Rollins & Murphy (C) vs Street Profits

Preview – The “Monday Night Messiah” recruited Murphy to his stable & have dominated ever since including capturing the tag-team titles over The Viking Raiders a few weeks ago on Monday Night RAW. The Street Profits will look to get their first taste of Gold outside of NXT when they get a shot against the tag-team champions.

  • SmackDown Women’s Championship – Bayley (C) vs Naomi

Preview – Last week on SmackDown, Naomi beat Carmella to earn the right to challenge Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship & she will do so, tomorrow afternoon in Saudi Arabia as WWE will have their 2nd ever Women’s match in the country. Will Naomi become a 2-time SmackDown Women’s Champion or will Bayley secure her place as Champion heading into WrestleMania 36?

  • Singles Match – Humberto Carrillo vs Angel Garza

Preview – Since his debut on Monday Night RAW, Garza has been torturing his cousin, Humberto, trading wins back & forth & getting the better of each other for several weeks now. This rivalry will culminate with a match, tomorrow at Super Showdown. Should be a fun one.

  • Tag-Team Match – Viking Raiders vs The OC

Preview – This rivalry dates back to last year’s Saudi Arabian PPV, in which The OC captured the best tag-team in the world trophy over The Viking Raiders & several other teams. Will The OC keep their title as the best tag-team on the planet or will The Viking Raiders be crowned as the best?

  • Singles Match – Mansoor vs Dolph Ziggler

Preview – Mansoor has generally only competed at these shows in Saudi as he’s from the area. He’s a terrific in-ring talent & he’s been showcased on the mic earlier this month, during the NXT TakeOver: Portland PPV’s pre-show panel, hyping the event. Ziggler is being thrown in to let Mansoor showcase his in-ring talent since Ziggler is probably the best seller in the company, today.
