Why The Fuck Was “Emily in Paris,” Nominated For a Golden Globe?

Written by Graciemarx

This morning, the nominees were announced for the 2021 Golden Globes. Now, before I get into my opinions, I wanna preference by saying that I consider myself a TV savant. I’ve watched every show ever created, and have very high standards to what makes a good tv show. My all time favorite tv show is Friday Night Lights.

Now, when I was looking at the nominees, one of them really stuck out: “Emily in Paris.” This Netflix show was very very popular and went viral on social media platforms. Now, I don’t think it went viral for being good, it went viral for being cringey. The show is about a girl named Emily, who moves to Paris to work at a fashion company. The title pretty much gives it away. The show was one of those cringey shows that people were obsessed with because of quarantine. There’s nothing else to do, so let’s all watch a horrible Netflix series. It’s one of those shows that you watch during quarantine, and then never think about again.

The show’s Americanized version of Paris was beyond cringe. In one scene, Emily goes to a bakery and buy a chocolate croissant and says “merci.” Wow, I mean if that doesn’t encapsulate French culture, I don’t know what the fuck does.

The internet was also not very happy about “Emily in Paris” getting nominated.

It really makes me thing what the fuck the standards are to get nominated. I get that this year it’s a bit different because of COVID, but c’mon, this trash show doesn’t deserve to be nominated. Anyways, if you want to watch a real show, stream “Friday Night Lights”. Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.
