Ahh, Duke and North Carolina, one of the most prestigious rivalries in all of college basketball. And tonight’s rendition of the rivalry did not disappoint.
The Duke Blue Devils staged a furious rally from 13 points down in the second half against the North Carolina Tar Heels and forced the game into overtime.
The game was close all the way down to the last seconds literally; and after a missed free throw by Duke’s Tre Jones, the Blue Devils got the ball back and set up the buzzer-beating play of the game to forward Wendell Moore.
That unbelievable shot by Moore gave the Blue Devils a 98-96 win in overtime.
It also coincidentally occurred on the same day that Austin Rivers hit the game-winning shot in regulation over North Carolina back in 2012. Both Rivers and Moore wore #0.
Jones led the game with 28 points, while Moore finished with 17 points. Guard Cole Anthony led North Carolina with 24 points.
