Super Bowl LIV is in the history books, and another Mike Shanahan-coached team found a way to blow a double-digit 4th quarter lead.

But fear not football fans, for the end is only the beginning this year, as the XFL returns after a 19-year absence.

The news of the XFL’s return was first broken by Pro Sports Extra’s own Brad Shepard (along with team cities and names), and it created a huge buzz in the sports community. At a time when the NFL was under fire for its controversy with players kneeling for the National Anthem.

Fast forward to this weekend, when the XFL’s eight teams do battle in the first week of action.

Saturday, February 8th – 2 PM ET – ABC

Seattle Dragons

DC Defenders

Saturday, February 8th – 5 PM ET – Fox

LA Wildcats

Houston Roughnecks

Sunday, February 9th – 2 PM ET – Fox

Tampa Bay Vipers

New York Guardians

Sunday, February 9th – 5 PM ET – ESPN

St. Louis Battlehawks

Dallas Renegades

If you love football, then the XFL is worth giving a chance. Football is popular enough that a little more of it isn’t a bad thing. Especially during the NFL offseason.

The XFL has a unique opportunity to give NFL fans a little something extra, or perhaps provide football fans with an alternative.

The real question is, will the XFL learn from the mistakes of the past? Only time will tell.
