Washington State football coach Nick Rolovich has been fired for refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccine. Four assistants to Rolovich have also been fired after not taking the vaccine which are policies for both the state and university. The mandate for the university is that all employees must be vaccinated by Oct. 18 in order to keep working.

Rolovich apparently tried to get a religious exemption but was denied. Rolovich kept saying that it was fine but seemed to not understand that the mandates were serious. He kept saying it was not in his hands but it was. It’s sad for the program to go through something like this during a season.

Rolovich did not last long at Washington State after only coming in 2020. Rolovich arrived at Washington State after four seasons at Hawaii.

Defensive coordinator Jack Dickert will serve as the team’s interim head coach.
