Washington Football Team Legend Found Dead; Cam Newton Injured; Season Ending Injury?

Written by Chris Powers

The worst part of sports blogging is reporting on the deaths of players. Unfortunately it was announced earlier this week that the Washington Football Team lost one of their own.

Vince Promuto, a former offensive guard for the Washington Football Team passed away on June 1st at the age of 82 due to congestive heart failure. Promuto started with the team in 1960 and played the entire decade for Washington. He is a member of the team’s Ring of Honor and has been named one of the top 70 players in franchise history. Promuto also played in the pro bowl in the 1963 and 1964 seasons.

In other NFL news, New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton suffered an injury during the Patriots OTA’s. Newton suffered a “bone bruise” on his hand after smacking a helmet. While the injury is not deemed serious and he should not miss any time, his participation in OTA’s is now limited.
