Raiders’ LB Vontaze Burfict’s year-long suspension now official, as @mortreport said. pic.twitter.com/ENNsIe5Vj1— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) September 30, 2019
NFL VP Jon Runyan on Vontaze Burfict: “There were no mitigating circumstances on this play. Your contact was unnecessary, flagrant and should have been avoided…You have continued to flagrantly abuse rules designated to protect yourself and your opponents from unnecessary risk.”— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) September 30, 2019
This will be the fourth suspension for on field hits for Burfict in his NFL career. This one will cost him the rest of the NFL season.
This, of course, is par for the Burfict course. He is by far the dirtiest player in the league and now will miss a full season because of it. He doesn’t seem to change his way as a head hunter that has no regard for anyone else’s safety or for the rules of the game.
Now that he has run his course with the Bengals and Raiders, I don’t think there are anymore dirt bag organizations that will take a chance on him if and when he ever comes back.
Here was his hit on Jack Doyle from Sunday:
