Vince McMahon Refutes Rumor He Intends on Purchasing XFL Out of Bankruptcy

Written by joe.breaux

If the old saying is true, Third Times the Charm for the XFL, the attempt will be made without the oversight of one Vincent K. McMahon.

Contrary to earlier online reports, Vince McMahon stated in a filing today in bankruptcy court that he will not be a bidder for the XFL, according to a report from ESPN’s Kevin Seifert. In the same filing, McMahon is quoted as calling the claims “inflammatory rhetoric and unsubstantiated accusations.”

The relaunch of the XFL took place in February of this year but due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the league was forced to shutdown after only 5 weeks of operation. The failed league declared bankruptcy in early April, two days before controversially firing former league Commissioner and CEO Oliver Luck. His termination has resulted in a civil suit against McMahon which is pending.
