Vikings Draft Quarterback; Cousins Out As QB In Minnesota?

Written by Chris Powers

The Minnesota Vikings wiith the 66th pick in the NFL Draft picked up Kellon Mond, quarterback out of Texas A&M. The Vikings starting quarterback Kirk Cousins, who has had mixed reviews from fans in Minnesota, has only two years left on his contract.

At this point, the assumption is that Cousins will be the starter going into the 2021 season, but for the next two years Mond will have the opportunity to learn from a veteran quarterback. If you’re Cousins, you have to be feeling the pressure knowing that your future replacement was just drafted. Even veteran quarterback andd former teammate of Cousins, Robert Griffin III commented on the situation.

“I can tell you right now, No. 8 in Minnesota is probably not real happy right now. Kellen Mond represents exactly what [Cousins] doesn’t do well,” Griffin said. “Kellen Mond is the big physical quarterback,” Griffin continued. “He can run it and throw it all over the field. I don’t think that’s something No. 8 is able to do in Cousins in Minnesota.”

Speaking of quarterback controversy in the NFL, Minnesota isn’t the only franchise in this situation. The Falcons recently signed a new quarterback. What does this mean for Matt Ryan’s future? Check out the article below and find out.
