Upper Peninsula Was Left Off Map Graphic During Saturday Night Live Segment (Video)

Written by Nate

The Upper Peninsula has been given the cold shoulder yet again. This time this occurred during a segment on Saturday Night Live (SNL).

First reported by the Detroit Free Press, the iconic show had a news segment skit starring cohosts Collin Jost and Michael Che which had a map of the U.P., but if you look very closely, the entire U.P. region is not there.

The YouTube video of SNL’s ‘Weekend Update’ segment can be viewed down below. The map is shown at around the four minute mark.

Tsk tsk tsk.

This shunning adds to the growing list of the Upper Peninsula being left off this year.

This year, Mountain Dew had left off the U.P. during their States campaign. The company later apologized and had issued a new bottle for us.

Google and now recently on an episode on comedian John Oliver’s show Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, had misrepresented the U.P. on maps on different occasions.

One of these days someone or some people are going to recognize the Upper Peninsula soon.
