Update: It was returned damaged!
A Upper Peninsula bar owner is facing a little trouble. Tom Romps who owns The Downtowner Lounge in Houghton, Michigan decided to steal a replica Super Bowl trophy that was at a Green Bay bar, The Bar – Holmgren Way. He was wearing a Detroit Lions shirt while doing it and now Green Bay Packer fans can’t stop roasting him.
The original Facebook post read:
Green Bay – we need your help! Do you recognize this person? They were a patron of The Bar on Holmgren Way on Monday Night 9/18 and stole our Super Bowl replica trophy.
The person was seen on Monday night wearing a blue Detroit Lions zip hoodie, blue Nike t-shirt, blue jeans and gray tennis shoes.
If you have any information on this individual please send us a direct message immediately. This trophy is a priceless piece of memorabilia, courtesy of Donald Driver, and we need it back as soon as possible.”
How would he feel if I go take something from his bar? I’m sure he wouldn’t be too happy. I am sure he’d be the first person to jump to report it.
Hell, I’m a die-hard Lions fan. And this makes us ALL look like idiots.
What was he going to do? Bring it up to his bar? I could see if maybe him as a bar owner maybe knew the owner of the Packers bar to mess around with them. But that wasn’t the case, at all.
And to top it off, you know damn well as a Detroit Lions fan that doing this was going to lead to all the “Only way a Lions fan could see a Super Bowl trophy” type of comments.
The bar has updated us on the situation:
“UPDATE: The thief has been identified, and the trophy is on it’s way back to us! Thank you to everyone who called in tips and helped us identify him, didn’t take long before Packers fans found him! Of course, the only way a Lions fan could see a Super Bowl trophy, would be by stealing it…”
