We have some sad news to share from out in the Santa Cruz, California areas as a deputy sheriff was shot and killed in an ambush earlier Sunday, which also left another two fellow officers injured at the scene.
One America News Network (OANN) said in a post that Sergeant Damon Gutzwiller, 38, responded to calls regarding a suspicious van in that area.

The van took off from the scene and opened fire on the officers, killing Guntzwiller. Another deputy and a California Highway Patrol (CHP) were also injured in the incident.
The alleged shooter, Steven Carillo, was also shot during his capture and arrested by authorities shortly after.

Carillo, who is an active duty member that served for the U.S. Air Force, is currently being treated for his injuries at a local hospital, and will be charged with first-degree murder.
Guntzwiller was survived by his pregnant wife, and his first child.
