First off, Happy New Years 2021 from all of us at Pro Sports Extra! However, this is another shining example of rules for thee, but not for me.
While many Americans were urged not to go out and celebrate last night’s New Years Eve festivities, one politician and his wife were seen dancing as part of the New Years Eve celebration at Times Square in New York City.
NYC mayor Bill DeBlasio and his wife, Chirlane McCray, were caught on video dancing at the plaza and on stage in the city.
Even though there was a small, masked and socially distant crowd, De Blasio and a few other politicians were also the ones that told everyone not to gather for NYE and closed Times Square for the celebration.
Both DeBlasio and McCray may have been masked while dancing, but that does not excuse their hypocrisy.
Keep in mind, this is also the same mayor who closed off an entire street to paint a yellow mural for Black Lives Matter in protest back in the summer. He also had violated his own protest permit process and ban of major events in NYC for it to happen.
And he also closed indoor dining to restaurants and businesses recently, leaving those hard-working residents out to dry.
This just adds to the list of major hypocritical acts that politicians have violated for their own personal gain, even during a pandemic.
Such of these notable events include House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Chicago’s mayor Lori Lightfoot getting haircuts while salons couldn’t be open, Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer telling residents not to travel yet have her husband attempt to get their family boat off the dock, and Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti building an outdoor patio across from another bar which was closed due to strict COVID-19 restrictions in California.
These type of stuff really irks the hell out of me and it hopes it all gets left behind starting today.
This type of hypocrisy from politicians has to stop, otherwise there will be more rebellions from businesses happening across the country.
With the growing success of the Barstool Sports’ Barstool Fund, I hope to God Dave Portnoy runs for mayor one day at NYC, so we can get idiots like De Blasio out of office—and fast!
