At the trade deadline, the Oakland A’s acquired All-Star second baseman Tommy La Stella from the division rival Los Angeles Angels. The former Brave and Cub had been stellar for them heading into tonight where he was absolutely obliterated late into their rally. He took a fastball off of the elbow.

La Stella’s solo homerun put them up 1-0 in the first inning. There is no word on La Stella’s condition at the moment, but the A’s won 9-7 to extend their season at least one more day.
