Tokyo Sports Reveals Pro Wrestling Award Winners For 2020

Tokyo Sports daily newspaper has given their list of the best in Puroresu for 2020 in their opinion. It’s a tradition that goes back to 1974 when Antonio Inoki won Best Wrestler honors. They didn’t start doing the women’s category until 1995 which saw Shinobu Kandori win that first award.

Here are this year’s winners:

MVP – Tetsuya Naito (currently both the IWGP Heavyweight Champion and the IWGP Intercontinental Champion in New Japan Pro Wrestling)

Best Bout – Kazuchika Okada vs. Tetsuya Naito on 1/5/20 at Wrestle Kingdom 14 second night at the Tokyo Dome (the winner of the match won both the IWGP Heavyweight Title and IWGP Intercontinental Title)

Best Tag Team – Takashi Sugiura and Kazushi Sakuraba (currently GHC Tag Team Champions in Pro-Wrestling NOAH)

Outstanding Performance – Go Shiozaki (currently GHC Heavyweight Champion in Pro-Wrestling NOAH)

Fighting-Spirit – Hiromu Takahashi

Best Technique- Tetsuya Endo (currently DDT KO-D Openweight Champion in DDT)

Women’s Pro Wrestling Award – Giulia (currently the Wonder of STARDOM Champion in STARDOM)
