Thursday Night Fantasy Football Pregame

Thursday Night Football can either make or break your Fantasy week. There is nothing like one of your horses going off and seeing a giant lead going into Sunday. It almost feels like a head start. On the other hand, there is nothing more demoralizing than having a big fat DUD on TNF.

The Arizona Cardinals are coming off the insane Hail “Murray” that prompted them to a huge win against the Bills. A quick turnaround from that heroic play between Kyler and D hop can lead to one of two things… a Hail Murray Hangover or they ride that wave into another W.

The Seahawks have struggled as of late on all sides of the ball. One of the biggest concerns is their lack of a run game without Chris Carson. Is he the glue to this offense and Russel Wilson? I think he just might be. Since his injury the Seahawks are 1-3 and they’re leading rusher? Russel Wilson with 172 rushing yards since Carson’s injury. You cant expect Russ to do it all in the air and on the ground. Especially with the putrid Seahawks D who rank 25th overall in Fantasy football with just 15 points scored in 9 games.

Kyler Murray, Deandre Hopkins, Russ and DK Metcalf are the obvious choices to start. You ride or die with your guys. Especially when your guys rank among the top 10 in their respective positions.

Guys to keep an eye on

  • Tyler Lockett- Last time Lockett faced this Arizona D, he went OFF for 15 catches for 200 yards and 3 TDs… talk about straight dominance! However, since that performance Lockett has not found the end zone and has not eclipsed more than 66 receiving yards. Do I expect Lockett to have the same success he had last time against the Cardinals D? Absolutely not. BUT he is due for a nice productive day in a game where I think the Seahawks will be playing from behind. Yards will be there, and Lockett is due to find the end zone.
  • Kenyan Drake- Drake was basically a non factor last time these two teams met. He had 41 total yards, 34 on the ground and 7 through the air. I expect Drake to have a much better performance this go around, as I believe the Cardinals will pull away and allow Drake to eat on some clock killing carries. I also expect Murray and D Hop to get ALL the attention in the red zone and that could allow Drake to slip away for a rushing TD.
  • Both Kickers- I like both Zane Gonzalez and Jason Meyers in this game. Both kickers had double digit points last time they faced off and I could see the same thing out of both guys today. The Cardinals do not stop scoring, so just in extra points Zane should get half way to the double digit mark. With the lack of a running game I see multiple drives coming up short and the Seahawks settling for FGs opening the door for Myers to cash in.

Give me Arizona tonight, sweeping the Seahawks for the season and riding the Hail Murray wave for at least another week.
