Terry McLaurin has been a rising star in the NFL for the last few seasons. Even though his 2021 season did not live up to his breakout year of 2020, he is still regarded as the true WR1 in #Washington. Being a rookie at the age of 24, McLaurin is set to enter his fourth and final year of his rookie contract when the 2022 season begins. Players are eligible for an extension after their third year in the league, and many receivers around the NFL are getting paid top dollar in their third year, so why not Terry? For example, Christian Kirk signed with the #Jaguars when he hit free agency and busted the market when he signed a whopping four year, $72M contract. Davante Adams was paid by the #Raiders when he signed a five-year, $141.25M deal after being traded by the #Packers. There are others around the league being paid top dollar, and this could very well be the cause of delay on contract extension talks between the team and McLaurin.

McLaurin has managed to put up back to back 1,000 yard receiving seasons while the team still searches for their franchise QB. Whoever is throwing the ball, McLaurin continues to produce, though his career catch rate sits at a %62.2, which isn’t terrible, but not the best either. The #Commanders are reported to have approached McLaurin’s agent at the NFL combine, but have had no ‘ongoing dialogue’ since then, according to Grant Paulsen.
