After a treacherous 5 week hiatus, the UFC is finally coming back, and it’s coming back with a banger. Giga Chikadze is fighting Calvin Cattar in what very well may be a title eliminator at 145lbs, and this is exactly what fight fans need in their lives right now.
These two are going to absolutely get after it tomorrow night. I wouldn’t be surprised if this thing is just a 25-minute bone-swinging bloodfest, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if someone got dropped in the opening round. These two are coming for violence. They’re coming to take each other’s heads off. Calvin Kattar got punched like 100,000 times by Max Holloway and kept coming forward. The guy’s looking for revenge. And, I’m pretty sure Giga Chikadze is physically capable of kicking another man’s knee caps out of their skin, so definitely be on the lookout for that.
I have no idea who’s going to win this fight, but what I do know is that I cannot handle another five weeks of no UFC. This last month and a half have just been a bottomless void of no caged violence, and that just needs to come to an end. For five Saturdays in row, I aimlessly scrolled through ESPN+ hoping some sort of new UFC card would just appear out of thin air just for me. By last Saturday I was just sitting in a room by myself sipping on a Monster watching reruns of the Kimbo Slice Ultimate Fighter season. It was a dark run, but we see the light tomorrow night.
