The Colts hire Jeff Saturday as Interim Head Coach

The Indianapolis Colts are naming their former Pro Bowl center Jeff Saturday, a current ESPN analyst, as their interim head coach, owner Jim Irsay confirmed on Twitter.

This is a odd move to hire a Head Coach of an NFL team, without any prior coaching experience in the NFL or college football.

The Colts are a disappointing 3-5-1 this season. Saturday has been a consultant for the Colts and is in the team’s Ring Of Honor. The 47-year-old also was the Head Coach for the Hebron Christian Academy football team in Dacula, Georgia.

With the hiring of Saturday, the Colts bypassed two former NFL head coaches on their staff, Gus Bradley and John Fox.
