Just when you thought Troy Weaver was done this offseason, he pulls a rabbit out of a hat. While many Pistons fans hoped to get LaMelo Ball in the Draft, it looks as though there will be a Ball brother in Detroit after all:

Don’t expect this to be anything more than a G-League signing, and who knows how long he’ll last with the squad. The 6-5 SG/SF was briefly signed to OKC’s G-League team last year but was only with the team for one game before the season was cut short due to COVID-19. He did not play in that game. LiAngelo spent most of 2019 rehabbing an ankle injury. In 2018 he averaged 12.6 points and 41.5% shooting from 3 for the Lithuanian team Prienai. He then played in his dad’s JBA league after not being selected in the 2018 Draft. LiAngelo was a 3-star prospect coming out of Chino Hills and was kicked off of the UCLA team after being arrested for stealing sunglasses on a team trip to China.

Who knows what will become of LiAngelo in Detroit, but regardless it’ll be a fun story to follow, especially for a fanbase that could use a jolt of excitement. The Pistons right now are focused on developing their young players for the future, so it’s possible that Dwane Casey could help him improve. Casey is known for young player development.
