Tennessee Titans Release Three-Time Pro Bowl Player

The Tennessee Titans released standout left tackle Taylor Lewan.

The Titans will save $14.841 million on their salary cap with the move. Lewan had no guaranteed money left on his deal. 

The 31-year-old Lewan is a former first-round pick of the Titans back in 2014. The nine-year veteran was a Three-Time Pro Bowler.

He played in played 105 games in his career, but he appeared in two games last year. He started both games at left tackle.

Lewan said that he knew the move was coming.

“In the next couple of weeks, I will be cut by the Tennessee Titans — that will happen,” Lewan told the Titans’ website in the week before the Super Bowl. “I truly believe that in my heart of hearts. Then I have to go into a situation that I’ve never been in in my entire life: I have to weigh the pros and cons of playing football, or not playing football.”
