The Tampa Bay Vipers are perhaps the most disappointing team in the XFL this season. Former Georgia standout Aaron Murray entered the season as the starting quarterback but suffered an injury and has been replaced by Taylor Cornelius.
Coach Marc Trestman has struggled to find a balance between Cornelius and dual threat QB Quinton Flowers. Trestman has often thrown Flowers in the game to give the the defense something to think about, but the execution has been sloppy overall and has even caused some displeasure for Flowers who essentially skipped a game because of his use or lack-thereof.
The Vipers do, however, posses the league’s leading rushing offense. Running back DeVeon Smith leads the XFL in rushing yards while teammate Jacques Patrick is third.
The Viper’s defense has actually allowed the fewest amount of yards so far this season, but is tied for the most touchdowns allowed with 15.
Overall, I believe that this team will remain in the XFL East cellar and will be looking to next season sooner than most.
