Taking a Look at the New York Guardians at the XFL Season’s Midpoint

The New York Guardians are led by former New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride. After starting the season 1-2 with former Penn State and Oakland Raider quarterback Matt McGloin, Gilbride has turned to former AAF player Luis Perez to give his offense a spark that is desperately needed.

Perez has seemed to take control of the offense after McGloin’s failures as a passer and as a leader. Perez has won both of the games he has started and is beginning to turn around what is currently the lowest scoring team in the XFL.

While this team is currently in a three way tie for first in the East at 3-2, I expect both DC and St. Louis to eventually pull ahead of the Guardians, as they leave much to be desired both offensively and defensively.
