The Houston Roughnecks have been the class of the XFL halfway through the year. They have won all five games to this point and don’t appear to be slowing down as they have scored at least 27 points in every game.
Quarterback P.J. Walker is the current favorite for the league’s MVP as he leads the XFL in passing yards with 1,338 and passing touchdowns with 15. Walker even has the NFL keeping an eye on him with his great performance and is even drawing comparisons to Russell Wilson. After graduating from Temple, Walker spent two years on the Colts’ practice squad.
Receiver Cam Phillips has been his favorite target so far and is proving to be the most dynamic receiver in the league to this point catching 31 passes for 455 yards with nine touchdowns.
Houston has embraced head coach June Jones’ wide open offensive methods and have scored nearly 30 points more than any other team in the league.
The Roughnecks defense is about middle of the pack, but if they can keep scoring at the ridiculous pace they have been that will be good enough, as they have shown the ability to beat everyone to this point in the year.
