The New York Mets finally have a new owner, ending a saga. Steve Cohen wanted to purchase the Mets for a record $2.45B, and he now has.
Bill De Blasio recently tried to kill this bid but we now realize he was unsuccessful as at least 23/30 owners have signed off on the deal. Fred Wilpon’s first year as owner was 1986, when they won the World Series. He became the majority owner in 2002. We’ll see how much Cohen changes immediately.
