Stephon Tuitt a DE on the Pittsburg Steelers has decided to retire after 8 seasons.

In a statement released by the Steelers, Tuitt said, “ After the tragic loss of my brother Richard, and upon completing my degree from the university of Notre Dame I know I am being called to move beyond the sport of football.”

In his time in the NFL, Tuitt was a starter for 6 out of the 8 seasons. He amassed 34.5 sacks, and 246 tackles as he was a big component in the Steelers defense. He finishes at No. 20 in the Steelers all time sack list.

Tuitt’s retirement leaves a big hole in the Steelers offensive line that the team will need to fill.
