Stephen A. Smith put the Los Angeles Lakers on blast: Calling them Brick Layers

Written by Tony Ghaul

On Friday’s episode of ESPN’s First Take, Stephen A. Smith takes aim at the ‘awful’ LA Lakers after their 0-2 start to the NBA season, ‘Construction workers don’t have nothing on these brick layers in Southern California.’

Stephen A. Smith came out hot Friday after the Lakers fell to 0-2 on the season following a 103-97 loss to the crosstown-rival Clippers on Thursday night. ‘I just gotta be honest with y’all, they’re awful,’ Smith said during Friday’s episode of First Take. ‘The Lakers are just awful at shooting the basketball.

‘These brothers would put construction workers to shame. Construction workers don’t have nothing on these bricklayers in Southern California. ‘I mean, my God. My God. I can’t recall a time when I’ve seen the Lakers be this bereft of shooters. It’s that bad!’

Smith also addressed the noise surrounding Russell Westbrook who has been shifted to the second unit by Lakers coach Darvin Ham. ‘I got a lot of love for Russell Westbrook and there’s nothing I have to say about his character,’ Smith said.

‘If you Russell Westbrook, when we say you can’t shoot, you gotta respect the fact that is not an attack against your character. It’s an attack against your ability to shoot the basketball. Last night he was 0-for-11! 0-for-11!’
