STARDOM Results 7/17/20: New Future Champion And Wonder Title Tournament Finals Set

Written by Shannon Walsh

This show will crown a third Future of STARDOM Champion in a 3-Way Match with Maika vs. Saya Kamitani vs. Saya Iida. Utami Hayashishita vacated the title back on 2/16/20 to “move up” after six successful defenses so she can compete for the Wonder of STARDOM Title and the World of STARDOM Title.

Starlight Kid was the first Future Champion by winning a tournament final over Shiki Shibusawa after the Twisted Frog Splash for the pin in 5:47 on 3/28/18 at Korakuen Hall.

Utami Hayashishita beat Starlight Kid for the title on 1/3/19 by torture rack backbreaker submission in 9:47 at Shinkiba 1st Ring.

The vacant Wonder of STARDOM Title will be closer to being filled today in a mini tournament with Giulia vs. Konami, and Tam Nakano vs. Natsuko Tora. The winners of each match will meet in the finals for the championship on 7/26. Arisa Hoshiki was forced to retire due to injuries and vacated the title on 5/20/20. She won it from Momo Watanabe by pin after the Brazilian Kick in 12:57 on 5/16/19 at Korakuen Hall.

STARDOM “Explode In Summer” results from Tokyo, Japan 🇯🇵 at Korakuen Hall on 7/17/20:

Rina beat Hina by submission with the Hydrangea in 4:29. The Hydrangea is a hold that Hana Kimera used at times. Kimura was Rina’s idol and a mentor. Hina and Rina are twin sisters and only age 13.

Utami Hayashita and Riho beat Sumire Natsu and Saki Kashima when Hayashita pinned Natsu after the torture rack bomb in 8:59.

Syuri and Himeka beat Jungle Kyona and Death Yama-San when Syuri pinned Yama-San after a Buzzsaw Kick in 9:06.

Mayu Iwatani and Starlight Kid beat Momo Watanabe and AZM when Kid pinned AZM after the Ki-chan Bomb in 13:44.

The Future of STARDOM Title match is next. STARDOM president Rossy Ogawa was in the ring to show off the belt and take the traditional title match photo op with the wrestlers.

This is set up with rules like an old “triangle match“ and not a triple threat one fall to a finish. Saya Kamitani will wrestle Saya Iida first and then Maika will enter in to face the winner. You must win a fall in a row on both opponents to win the match and the belt.

Saya Kamitani pinned Saya Iida after the running shooting star press in 5:03.

Maika beat Kamitani by submission in 4:09.

Saya Iida pinned Maika with a La Magistral Cradle in 1:36.

Kamitani pinned Iida with a clutch in 1:04.

Maika pinned Kamitani after a Maika Cutter in 2:45.

Maika beat Iida by submission to finally win the match and the vacant title in 3:01.

They announced show dates for 8/22 and 8/23 at the new Yokohama Budokan.

Giulia pinned Konami after the Glorious Driver in 19:40 in a Wonder of STARDOM Tournament match.

Tam Nakano pinned Natsuko Tora with a school boy pin in 12:42 in a Wonder of STARDOM Tournament match.

The finals on 7/26 will be the match that everyone wanted and expected after this week’s bikini photo shoot brawl: Tam Nakano vs. Giulia.

Giulia came out to confront Nakano to close the show and they did the strange staring at each other like they’ve been doing on Twitter videos to each other the past couple of weeks.

Thanks to Tomi Yamada for sending in the results. The show will air in parts on STARDOM World starting later today.

Giulia confronted Nakano once again backstage during a post-match interview. Nakano was wearing a bracelet to honor the retired Arisa Hoshiki with their old tag team name of DREAM*SHiNE written on it. Giulia grabbed it off her wrist and threw it on the floor and stepped on it.
