Starbucks Customer Goes “Full Karen” on Barista- And the Internet Makes Her Pay

Written by joe.breaux

When Amber Lynn Gilles made the trip to her local Starbucks in San Diego Monday afternoon she did not plan that a simple trip to grab a cup of coffee would end up making her an overnight internet sensation….but unfortunately for the wrong reasons.

As Amber strolled up to the counter to place her order, she was informed by the Barista that the store policy was that all customers were required to wear a mask or face covering while inside. This did not sit well with Amber, who soon went to social media to express her displeasure with Starbucks as well as the employee who was doing nothing more than following company policy.

I can only assume what went through Amber’s mind as she typed out her frustration. Surely, she would have the support of her friends and neighbors on social media. Of course, the business would apologize, they would discipline this rogue employee, maybe even offer Amber some form of compensation for her inconvenience.

That’s the ironic part of social media, it can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Amber’s post went viral and over 20,000 shares later she has a large assortment of people condemning her life choices as well as her treatment of the Starbucks employee who was just doing their job.

The last we saw of Amber was a few comments and memes discussing the ineffectiveness of face coverings and comparing forcing others to wear masks the same as not allowing women the ability to Right to Choose as it pertains to their own reproductive rights. (Bit of a stretch there Kare…I mean Amber)

The Barista in the photo was later identified as Lenin. A Go Fund Me has been set up to provide tips for Lenin for standing up against a San Diego Karen. Currently the fundraiser has raised over $2,900.
