Staples Center to be renamed Arena starting on December 25

The Staples Center in Los Angeles is getting a makeover.

Well, more like a name change, as in a month’s time, the arena known as the Staples Center will be renamed the Arena. paid more than $700 million for the naming rights to the building, which now has a 20-year deal in pace to have the building called that.

It had been called the Staples Center since it’s doors opened back in 1999 and has been home to the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers, the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings and the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks.

The debut game to be played for the name change will the Los Angeles Lakers taking on the Brooklyn Nets, which is on Christmas Day.
