Shannon Sharpe will leave FS1’s “Undisputed” after seven years as co-host with Skip Bayless. Sharpe’s final show is expected to be after the 2023 NBA Finals concluding in June, as per The New York Post.
The 54 year-old Sharpe reached a buyout agreement with Fox Sports, according to Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post.
Sharpe was not happy with Bayless following a controversial tweet he made in the aftermath of Bills safety Damar Hamlin’s cardiac arrest on the field on Jan. 2.
Bayless stood by his tweet, despite Sharpe’s urging him to take it down. Sharpe did not appear on the show the following morning.
Bayless’ tweet that he sent after Hamlin had collapsed, but before the rest of the game had been canceled:
“No doubt the NFL is considering postponing the rest of this game — but how? This late in the season, a game of this magnitude is crucial to the regular-season outcome … which suddenly seems so irrelevant.”
Sharpe and Bayless had disagreement on whether the FS1 bosses wanted Bayless to offer an explanation for the tweet.
Sharpe is a three-time Super Bowl champion, a four-time All-Pro and enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
