Sean Payton is leaving as the head coach of the New Orleans Saints

For 15 years, Sean Payton has been the head coach of the New Orleans Saints. But after the 2021 season, Payton has decided to take a break.

The 58-year-old Payton announced on Tuesday that he was stepping away as the head coach of the Saints.

Whehter you want to call it a break or retirement, Payton is walking away after a successful run with the Saints, going 152-89 with a Super Bowl Championship on his resume.

Some have wondered if he could be lured not the New York Giants for their head coaching vacancy or the Dallas Cowboys if Mike McCarthy got fired, but it doesn’t look like either will happen.

They always could down the road if Payton decides he wants to come back to coaching again. But for now, Payton is taking a long-needed break from coaching in the NFL.
