The 2021 offseason has been quite chaotic for many teams at the quarterback position. It has been a drama ensued offseason for sure, with the Green Bay Packers being the center of attention at the quarterback role. As we all know, Aaron Rodgers decided to return to the team and put all of the questions about his future to rest, for the time being.

But the Packers are not the only team who have been muddled with quarterback controversy. From the Jets, to the Bears, to the Texans, among many others, there has also been quite a stir in San Francisco after the 49ers drafted Trey Lance in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Well, it appears that earlier this week the 49ers have added to the controversy a bit more after releasing backup quarterback Josh Rosen.

What does this mean for starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo? One would assume Garoppolo still has the starting job going into the season, but you would assume that if things do not go well rather quickly that Jimmy G will likely be benched for rookie Trey Lance.

So far. both Garoppolo and Lance have performed well in practice. In a recent preseason game, Garoppolo was even seen cheering on Lance after he threw his first NFL touchdown for 80 yards. Despite the rumors, it sounds like Jimmy G has zero animosity towards Lance.
