For fans expecting a Ronda Rousey surprise return this Sunday night, think again.
The former WWE Womens Champion and WrestleMania 35 main eventer took to Twitter to sarcastically ‘shut down’ any potential rumors.
Boom. It sure seemed like a joking comment telling us NOT to be counting down the clock during the 2021 Womens Royal Rumble Match, waiting for Joan Jett to play. Sorry to her biggest fans – she wouldn’t have tweeted that out if she was due to make a comeback. Most of the time, guys/gals stay very, very quiet before making a big return. No use drawing attention to yourself to spoil anything. Rousey knows this.
Just as she knew this back in 2018, three years ago during an impromptu interview with TMZ…
Yep, that was Ronda Rousey a few days before the 2018 Royal Rumble trying to deny rumors of making an appearance. It had been long rumored and expected at that point, but there she was on TMZ trying to cover her backside by claiming to be out of the country until mid-February filming a movie. That was absolutely true. However, airplanes were invented decades ago, so yeah, she did fly in for the Royal Rumble 2018 “shocking” debut and then flew back to continue filming after. Amazing how those things work, huh?
Needless to say, nobody bought into her smokescreen ‘lie’ three years ago…but this time, I believe her. I don’t expect to see her this Sunday at the Royal Rumble. She has been off WWE television since WrestleMania 2019, where she lost the RAW Womens Title to Becky Lynch in the main event match (also included Charlotte Flair). Since then, she has been taking time off to start a family. Nearly two years later, still no pregnancy announcement. That has led to rumors of a WWE return starting up again, especially with fans ready to return to the stands at WrestleMania 37 in Tampa Bay in April.
What do you think? Is Ronda Rousey messing with fans again or will she actually return to WWE this Sunday night? I say a comeback is close…but not quite yet…
