The Colorado Rockies have placed outfielder Kris Bryant on the 10-day IL with a left heel bruise, retroactive to May 31.
Bryant had three stints on the injured list last season. His first in Colorado.
Bryant in the midst of a 10-for-61 slump over his last 16 games. Overall this season, Bryant is hitting .263 with five home runs, six doubles and 17 RBIs.
The Rockies signed Bryant to a seven-year, $182 million deal before the 2022 season. Injuries limited him to 42 games in which he had a .851 OPS, 5 home runs and 12 doubles.
The 31 year-old Bryant is a former NL Rookie of the Year and MVP. He was once one of the most feared hitters in Major League Baseball.
Injuries and the struggles of the Rockies as a team has made him a forgotten star.
