Ring of Combat 74: John Ramirez vs Dylan Mantello Preview

Written by Noah Gagnon

This Friday, October 22, Atlantic City’s longest-running MMA Promotion, Lou Neglia’s Ring of Combat is making its return, and it’s coming back with a bang. This card has 13 fights, and three title bouts, and each fight features some of the hottest prospects the sport has to offer.

Ring of Combat has earned the reputation of being the “American Idol” of MMA because if you show out in ROC, you’re gonna get signed to the sport’s most prestigious promotions. Ring of Combat has produced over 150 UFC fighters, and 6 UFC champions, so when you’re watching an ROC card, you’re watching the future of the sport.

John Ramirez vs Dylan Mantello

As mentioned earlier, this card features three awesome title fights, and John Ramirez vs Dylan Mantello is the first of the three. Ramirez and Mantello will be sqaring off for ROC’s vacant lightweight title, and both of them are coming ready to go to war.

John Ramirez earned the name “The Honduras Assassain” for a reason. The guy is an absolute machine. He touts a 5-5 record, and is coming off an awesome rear-naked choke victory back in May, so he’s looking to get a winstreak going here at ROC 74. Ramirez is still young, only being 25-years-old, so if he’s able to claim the prestigous ROC Lightweight title, he could be eagerly approaching his shot in the sports top promotions.

His opponent, Dylan Mantello, is about as hot of a prospect as it gets on the east coast MMA scene. He checks all the boxes as a guy the UFC would be looking at to bring in, and he very well might get his shot with a win at ROC 74. At 28 years of age, Mantello sports 4-0 record, and has the backing of one of the east coast’s premier fight camps, the Serra/Longo fight team.

He trains alongside some of the sports best fighters in Al Iaquinta, Merab Dvalishvili, and UFC Bantamnweight Champion Aljamain Sterling. So, if he can hang with those guys in the gym, and claim the ROC Lightweight Belt, Mantello could be destined for huge things beyond the ROC cage. Don’t be shocked to see him get an opportunity in Dana White’s contender series, or an outright UFC contract with a win on Friday.

Needless to say, both of these guys have a tone on the line at ROC 74, and are headed on a collision course towards each other. Both men are gonna leave it all in the cage, in what promises to be a crazy battle for the Ring of Combat Lightweight title.
