Retired New Orleans Saints Player Passes Away!

Written by Chris Powers

Tragedy has struck the NFL on multiple occasions in 2021. Just a few weeks ago, former New York Giants head coach Jim Fassel passed away. Now unfortunately, the New Orleans Saints are the ones who have been impacted by the loss of a former player.

It was announced earlier today that former Saints wide receiver Bob Newland has passed away at the age of 72. Newland was picked by New Orleans in the seventh round of the 1972 draft and played four seasons for the Saints.

In other New Orleans Saints news, former quarterback Drew Brees recently announced a new partnership deal with LIGHT Helmets. See what Brees had to say about the new partnership below.

“Flag football is where I started, Football ‘N’ America (FNA) is my passion and identifying the best equipment available for the athletes was important to me. The LIGHT SS1 earned the best impact and coverage results ever recorded by the independent helmet rating lab of Virginia Tech. My goal is to ensure the kids learn the game(s), have fun, and utilize the best equipment available. LIGHT provides that equipment and we are proud to partner with them.”
