Ravens Use Non-Exclusive Franchise Tag On Lamar Jackson

Written by Tony Ghaul

The Ravens put the non-exclusive franchise tag on Jackson today. That means he will be free to negotiate with other NFL teams, and can sign an offer sheet with any team that makes him a contract offer to his liking.

The Ravens would have the option to match any offer sheet which Jackson signs. If they elect not to, they will receive two first-round picks as compensation from Jackson’s new team.

Jackson wants a fully guaranteed deal like the one given to Deshaun Watson last year by the Cleveland Browns.

The 26 year-old Jackson has missed 10 games combined the past two years due to injuries and was unable to finish both seasons.

In 2022, Jackson passed for 2,242 yards with 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
