Phillies top two pitchers let them down

Written by Tony Ghaul

The Phillies lost 3 of 4 games this past weekend to the Mets and they did not have to face the Mets top two pitchers in Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom. The Phillies had their two top starters going in Aaron Nola and Zach Wheeler and both them came up small in a big series. This series took a lot of air out of the Phillies sails.

Spot starter, Bailey Falter was the only pitcher who showed up strong. Yesterday, veteran pitcher Kyle Gibson did not pitch well, but the Phillies offense produced enough runs for the victory. The bullpen ended up blowing the game with David Robertson allowing a game crushing home run.

This was a disasterous weekend for the Phillies and I believe the Phillies ace pitchers came up small.
