Phillies Top Prospect Andrew Painter Impresses In Spring Debut

Written by Tony Ghaul

Phillies 19-year-old phenom Andrew Painter made his Grapefruit League debut against the Twins. He allowed one run in two innings.

Painter threw a 99 mph fastball to Carlos Correa in the first inning, then he allowed a couple of hard-hit singles in the second.

Painter faced eight batters on Wednesday, throwing 29 pitches and 18 of them for strikes. He reached 99 mph twice in the outing.

The fifth spot in the Phillies’ starting rotation is up for grabs and Painter has been considered the frontrunner for it.
