Phillies To Play The Marlins In The National League Wild Card Series

Written by Tony Ghaul

The Philadelphia Phillies will take on the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park in the best-of-three National League Wild Card Series.

The Phillies lost the season series against the Marlins by a margin. The Marlins four of those games by one run. They won another game by two runs.

The Phillies boast a deep and powerful lineup with six players who hit 20 or more home runs. Kyle Schwarber led the way with 47 home runs followed by Nick Castellanos (29), Trea Turner (26), Bryce Harper (21), Alec Bohm and J.T. Realmuto both hit 20.

Castellanos led the Phillies in RBIs with 106 and Bryce Harper’s .293 batting average was top on the team.

The pitching is led by ace Zack Wheeler, who had a record of 13-6 on the season. He is followed by Aaron Nola, Ranger Suarez and Christopher Sanchez.

The Phillies bullpen will most likely use right-hander Craig Kimbrel and left-hander José Alvarado in the eighth and ninth inning situations.

The Phillies are led by the their best player, first baseman Bryce Harper. During last year’s postseason, he hit .349 with six homers and 13 RBIs in 17 games. Harper was the MVP of the National League Championship series in 2022.

The Marlins always give the Phillies fits. They are a tough team, but with home-field advantage and a potent lineup look for the Phillies to edge out the Marlins.
