The No. 2 prospect in the Phillies organization Mick Abel showed a glimpse of what the future could hold.

The 21-year-old Abel was 15th overall pick in the 2020 Draft. Due to some injuries to Phillies pitchers in recent weeks, Abel was brought back to camp after being reassigned last Sunday.

The 6-foot-5 right-hander nearly hit triple-digits on the radar gun consistently. In the two innings Abel pitched, he struck out two and allowed only one walk against a lineup stacked with Braves regulars.

Abel split time last season between High-A Jersey Shore and Double-A Reading, pitching to a 3.90 ERA across 108 1/3 innings. He could begin the 2023 season in Triple A.
