The past two seasons the Philadelphia Phillies have needed strong late season runs to get into the playoffs, after getting off to slow starts.

Both seasons they have finished behind the Atlanta Braves in the NL East, but have defeated them in the National League Division Series.

In 2022, the Phillies lost the World Series and in 2023, they lost in NL Championship. While, they have made deep playoff runs, they can’t count on doing that every year.

Getting off to fast start is a must this year. The Phillies would like to overtake the Braves for the NL East title.

Part of getting back though is kicking a nasty habit that has plagued them for the past couple of years and cost them dearly in the divisional race.

The Braves are a talented and stacked team, but so are the Phillies. Barring any serious injuries, both teams should be fighting it out for the division.

The Phillies will begin this season with there best player available. Bryce Harper missed the start of last season, while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery.

The Phillies have a talented and powerful starting lineup. Harper is the key and the centerpiece of the offense.

Harper is now going to be the full time first baseman, which allows slugger Kyle Schwarber to be the DH.

Those moves open the outfield for better defense. Brandon Marsh will be in left with Johan Rojas in center and Nick Castellanos in right.

Shortstop Trea Turner, who got off to a rough start and struggled offensively for most of his first season with the Phillies, now full year under his belt and he looks primed for a great season.

The starting pitcher staff is strong. It’s led by Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola. The bullpen is one the deepest and best in baseball.

The Phillies open the 2024 against the Braves tomorrow and it’s time to get out of the gate fast and set a tone for the season.
