Phillies May Move Nick Castellanos In A Trade

Written by Tony Ghaul

Rumors are circulating that the Philadelphia Phillies are considering trading right fielder Nick Castellanos, as per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

The Phillies signed Castellanos to a five-year, $100 million contract in March 2022. He struggled in his first season with the Phillies. Castellanos hit 13 home runs with 62 RBI and a .263 batting average in 2022.

Castellanos rebounded in 2023. He hit 29 home runs and drove in a career high 106 runs to go with .272 batting average.

The 31 year-old Castellanos has been very streaky and can go on prolonged slumps.

In the 2023 NLCS, Castellanos struggled mightily at the plate. He hit a home run in his first at-bat and then proceeded 0-for-19 the rest of the series.

The Phillies may look to shake up the roster this offseason, with Aaron Nola set to leave via free agency and with Bryce Harper moving to first base full-time, signals that Rhys Hoskins will probably not be back.

I am not sure, of the Phillies will trade Castellanos, but it sure seems that they are open to the idea.
