The Philadelphia Phillies acquired relief pitcher Michael Mercado from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for Adam Leverett and cash considerations on Monday, as per MLB Trade Rumors.

Mercado was rated as the Rays No. 22 prospect this season according to FanGraphs. He was a second-round draft pick of the Rays.

Mercado was drafted as a starting pitcher, but has transitioned to the bullpen over the last four years. He appeared in 52 games across Double and Triple-A this season and had a 4-3 record with an ERA of 4.79, recording six saves in 10 opportunities.

The 24 year-old Mercado will be in the Phillies minor league system for the upcoming season.
