The Philadelphia Phillies need starting pitching help. They also need to start hitting and playing better overall.
Phillies have no fifth starting pitcher, so it’s likely that they a starter at the MLB trade deadline.
Inside the Cubs has linked Marcus Stroman to the Phillies as a likely landing spot.
Stroman has a 2.59 ERA with a miniscule 0.986 WHIP through 73.0 innings pitched. Additionally, out his 12 starts this season, 10 have been quality starts, one of which was a one-hit, complete game shutout.
If the Phillies acquired Stroman, they would adding a ace-level pitcher. Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler haven’t performed at the same level as last year.
As a rental, Stroman won’t cost the Phillies a lot, but they will need to deal at least a top prospect to make the trade happen.
