Phillies Demote Johan Rojas To Triple-A

The Philadelphia Phillies have optioned struggling center fielder Johan Rojas to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The move was necessitated by shortstop Trea Turner being activated from the injured list.

Rojas has been struggling offensively all season. Lately, his defense and base running has been lagging too.

For the season, Rojas has 2 home runs, 19 RBI and a .235 batting average in 58 games. He struggled mightily in last year’s postseason, but was given the opportunity to be the starting center fielder position this season and failed to seize the opportunity.

The Phillies will likely go with Brandon Marsh and Cristian Pache in center field. Marsh had been starting in left field.
