Phillies Change Leadoff Hitter For Tonight’s Game

Written by Tony Ghaul

Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson is changing up the batting order for tonight’s game.

Bryson Stott leading off tonight and Trea Turner is moving to the number two spot.

Thomson said yesterday he wants to see what Edmundo Sosa and Brandon Marsh can do every day, but has Kody Clemens back in the lineup.

Stott has been off to a great start. He is hitting .428, the second-highest mark in the National League. Stott has been on a nine-game hit streak to begin the 2023 season.

Meanwhile, Jake Cave is in the starting lineup again. He is hitting just .125 (2 for 16) and struckout seven times. I would rather see Sosa in the lineup and Cave on the bench.

The Phillies open a 3-Game Series with the Miami Marlins tonight at 6:40 pm. Matt Strahm starts for the Phillies and Sandy Alcantara for the Marlins.
