The Philadelphia Phillies are ending the Dollar Dog Night promotion after 27 years. They have replaced it with two “BOGO” (buy-one-get-one) Dog Nights in April this season, as per team press release.

On the “BOGO” Dog Nights, fans can purchase two hot dogs for the price of one ($5). They will take place on April 2 and April 16.

The Phillies say that they are making this change based on the “organization’s ongoing commitment to provide a positive experience for all fans in attendance.”

The Phillies say the reasons for this change are long lines to purchase hot dogs and fans throwing hot dogs around.

The Dollar Dog night promotion began in 1997 as a way to boost attendance at Veterans Stadium.

Dollar Dog night has always been one of the Phillies popular promotions. It will be interesting to see the fan reaction.
